The Forum Project (TFP) is seeking a creative, energetic and dedicated individual to serve as the Performance Troupe Coordinator Intern. The Forum Project’s Performance Troupe will be touring a series of Forum Theatre plays to theaters, classrooms and other non-traditional performance spaces around New York City and surrounding areas. The Performance Troupe Intern will be responsible for supporting the planning, logistics and outreach of The Performance Troupe. Perfect for theatre students and organizers, duties include coordinating and communicating with troupe members, community and partner organization outreach, publicity and promotion, event planning and other administrative tasks as needed.
We take internships seriously and truly want to develop a relationship where the intern is allowed to develop and grow their skills while feeling challenged, supported and ultimately fulfilled. The Performance Troupe Coordinator will work closely with TFP’s Executive Director, S. Leigh Thompson, and Artistic Director, Alex Santiago-Jirau, facilitators with over 15 years of experience in the teaching and implementation of Theatre of the Oppressed methodologies, and will be attentively trained in TO facilitation with a focus on Jokering Forum Theatre.
Some knowledge of TO techniques, strong work ethic and administrative skills, attention to detail, ability to handle various projects simultaneously, and a passion for working with and on behalf of oppressed communities are required. Academic credit is provided if applicable. Interns must be available to work 10-20 hours a week. Community organizers, activists, educators, social justice artists, women, queer and trans persons, people of color, bilingual candidates, immigrants and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
