S. Leigh Thompson

S. Leigh ThompsonS. Leigh Thompson is a community organizer, advocate and artist and has spent the last decade working for the queer movement and for trans rights. He has  studied Theatre of the Oppressed techniques for ten years and has worked with Augusto Boal on several occasions. Leigh currently serves on the Board of Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed, Inc. and has been a member since 2001. In addition to working at the Empire State Pride Agenda, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) LGBT & AIDS Project and GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, Thompson currently works at the Applied Research Center as the Online Community Organizer for the Drop the I-Word Campaign. He has worked with many different communities, including immigrants, survivors of sexual violence, transgender people, and is currently dedicated to working with and for trans people and queer youth.  Leigh has a degree in Theatre with an emphasis in Directing, and an MA from Gallatin at New York University, focusing on utilizing Theatre of the Oppressed for political and social change.  Email Leigh at leigh@theforumproject.org.
