Our popular, one-day Intro workshop is back! In this workshop we will introduce you to the work of Theatre of the Oppressed and prepare you for using Theatre of the Oppressed techniques in your work and communities, while having lots of fun in the process!
These techniques were designed to raise consciousness and create action for individual and social change. Participants will be guided through a series of games and exercises that challenge how one understands their environment and communities. Through discussion and exploration, participants will be encouraged to explore systems of oppression. Critical observation, dialogue, and community participation will also inform our learning as we explore Boal’s strategies and practical applications in our own lives, work and communities.
We seek to involve activists, artists, social justice workers, educators, community leaders–anyone who seeks to use this training to further their pedagogical, social justice and organizing work. Participants of all experiences, identities, abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to register.
The fee for this workshop is $100, but we have a strong flexible payment policy to help make these tools available to all who need them. If you are unable to pay the full amount please let us know so we can discuss other options including payment plans, service donations, sliding scale or scholarships. For more information on payment options, please go to our Flexible Payment Policy page.
